Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 Designer Edition – the package prototyping solution
By Databazaar Blog
The Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 incorporates Epson’s latest achievements in high-resolution ink jet technology and their first of its kind, Epson UltraChrome™ HDR White Ink. This aqueous based white ink uses the new Organic Hollow Resin Particle Technology to produce white color; no known carcinogens are involved.
This printer has a 9-color system that uses the HDR (High Dynamic Range) pigment based inks that provide a wide color range. The high precision 10-channel print head is capable of printing both color and white in the same pass. The built-in cleaning cartridges automatically clean the print head, making it virtually maintenance free.
Both Reverse white and Surface white printing press methods are supported. In the reverse white method all the colored inks are applied first followed by white; the prototype is viewed from the “reverse” side. In the surface white method white color is printed first followed by all the other colors; the prototype is viewed from the surface of the media.
The front loading media includes a number of new substrates and ink jet coated clear as well as metallic films. Both rolls and cut sheets are supported, with the maximum roll width not exceeding 24”. This printer incorporates roll media length tracking and identification that is useful for tracking partially used rolls and issuing alerts when nearing the end of media. The Epson ePlaten™ Media Loading Technology ensures accurate media loading, movement, skew adjustment and tracking.
The control panel consists of a 2.5” color LCD that displays the status of the print job and intuitive navigation buttons for the basic printer functions. The Designer Edition includes support for the EFI®eXpress.
With this printer, you can produce proofing prints for a variety of packaging, including the most difficult flexographic and gravure print jobs.
